Part 2 of the saga that started here.
Oh yes, the shocking truth is about to be revealed. During the past week I've slowly been listing my clothes. I'm not done, not even close. The most progress I've made with skirts. So far, I've counted 59 skirts, and I know there's more in the laundry, still packed away for the summer, and just plain packed away. I have to face the fact that I have almost 100 skirts and that feels rather unpleasant. As one comment (which I conveniently deleted) said, who am I trying to impress? I'm not sure. Well, like everyone, I had such a traumatic youth, and since I was an overachiever at school I was always considered a walking head rather than a girl by the boys. That's when I started dressing up as a girl, and I have continued since. But a woman in my mature age still trying to cope with high school traumas? Um, is that pathetic or what?
OK, there's other reasons, too. I happen to find skirts much comfier that trousers, especially jeans. (Good jeans look great, but there's also things that make me not much of a fan - stretchy jeans easily lose their shape and non-stretchy ones are stiff and uncomfy.) With skirts fit doesn't matter as much as with trousers, so skirts are quite simply easier to find. And easier to sew they're too. Lots of reasons to end up with tonnes of skirts.
And it has to be admitted that there's some really, really nice ones in my collection.
Marimekko, vintage (Vanessa by Rissanen), vintage (homemade)Well, today when I went thrifting, I could hardly look at the skirts. I think I'm immune to new skirts for a while.
Now I should just psyche myself to give some of these up. Oh dear. Scary.
I'll say this much tho: these three here are NOT up for grabs!

Oh dear. 100 skirts.
Impressive I must say...if I had your warderobe it would take me hours to get dressed, how do you do it I wonder...?
I prefer skirts over trousers too; there is something nice about them!! One can never have too many skirts, imho! :)
You look good in skirts, so if you like them, what's the problem?
If everyone lived a minimalist life, the world would be an excessively dull place :)
Casey, Sara, the problem is that the collection is unmanageable, I live among clutter all the time :/. I'm a maximalist! heh.
sihiisi, well, it can take a while for me too, but I think it's more about other things that the size of my wardrobe. Whether I have a choice between 2 or 200, I can make it a choice larger than life :P
